A new venue but familiar faces. Today was filled with activities to interact with our PHF cohort -artists joined us to share in the creative fun. Throughout the day we used props, pens and paper, movement, dance and drama to build our confidence and understanding of our own experiences of the arts. Barriers to learning were discussed and how we move our projects on as a cohort.
Key thoughts:
- Disadvantaged – identifying, exploring and overcoming the specific barriers to learning they encounter and the ways that learning through the arts helps to overcome these.
- What will successful learners look like (processes and outcomes) – particularly disadvantaged
- Once clear what to looking for – then the co-planning, coaching, reflection conversations can relate to this and focus on these
- Focus on the development of three children at a time
Learning about Paul Hamlyn and his compassion, ethos and passion to support arts development and the development of teachers to deliver this, is inspiring. His interest in social justice, challenging prejudice and opening up the arts to all – is the spark that will ignite our project – its the flame that we need to fan.
